Tancho – Just like a Japanese flag – Head only red Nishikigoi (koi).

Tancho is one of the simplest and most stylish Nishikigoi.

Tancho

Like a red crane, only the head has a round red color, which reminds us of the Japanese flag.

This is a very popular Nishikigoi as well as Kouhaku, except for the red part, which is white.

The design of the white ground Tancho looks like the national flag of Japan, and it is strongly supported by Nishikigoi lovers not only in Japan but also in other countries.

Also, there are “Tancho Sanke” which has a white part as a separate shell, “Tancho Goshoku” which has a white part as a black part, and “Tancho Showa” which has a red part of Showa Sanke on the head only.

The Koi in the image above is Tancho Taisho Sanke.

How about a high quality Tancho?

It is easy to understand the evaluation of Tancho because it is a simple breed, and it is highly evaluated when the head is round and beautifully large.

Only Tancho Showa is based on the Showa Sanke, so the black part is drawn over the red part, but this is not to lower the rating but to be considered as part of the pattern.

Tancho is a Nishikigoi to enjoy from above.

There are many Nishikigoi that are kept in aquariums, but the Tancho is a Nishikigoi that you can enjoy from above.

Therefore, enjoy swimming gracefully in a place where you can see them from above, such as a pond, rather than a tank
